Action Plan of the East of England’s Europe and International Affairs Panel

The East of England’s Europe and International Affairs Panel (EIAP), which is co-chaired by the East of England Regional Assembly and the East of England Regional Development Agency, has adopted its Action Plan for 2007.  This Action Plan sets out the objectives of the EIAP for 2007 and supersedes the European Strategy which ran from 2004-7.  

The Action Plan has been drafted in the framework of the region’s Integrated Regional Strategy as well as the European Commission’s work programme for 2007, ensuring that the Panel’s work for the year is policy-focused and action oriented. 

2007 has already seen the EIAP successfully lobby the EU and UK government in new ways, such as through task and finish groups encompassing Panel members, as well as experts from the private sector and NGOs for example.  The EIAP is keen to continue this approach through to 2008 together with its partners in the East of England and staff in the Brussels Office to ensure that it:

• promotes the region's interests and  influences future European Union (EU) policy and  strategy
• optimises the benefits of the membership of the EU for all stakeholders in the region
• creates new opportunities for the region's businesses in an enlarged Europe
